I miss Tanzania

I really don’t know where to start here. Other than it’s been almost 3 months since I left for Tanzania and two since I’ve been back. My life has changed and my experiences have altered the way I see the world. I think about my students and friends at Fish Eagle each and everyday. I’m thankful for technology so I can still catch up with some of my friends and hear how they are doing. I find myself wondering about the kids so often. I think about Salimu and how his time in Zanzibar with his family was. I think about Katani and if he’s still shooing away the little kids so the class can learn. I think about Mwanahasan and if she laughs like she did when we were there. I think about Mudi and Yusufu and how they always made me laugh. I think about how simple life was when I was there. I woke up and took a quick and usually cold shower, didn’t think to brush my hair or put make up and off to school I went. My days were so fulfilling and I’m still searching for that fulfillment back at home. There’s just nothing quite like the relationships I formed with the people in Tanzania.

I wrote about my day at Pamoja Leo and I’ve had the opportunity to stay in touch with Ed and Georgina and am currently in the process of planning a trip back to Tanzania in January after I graduate from Purdue. My hope is that I will stay at Pamoja Leo for about 6 weeks and take a week to go back to Boma Village and visit my friends!

I don’t know if I plan to keep writing on this blog but I was in my feels, missin my kiddos so this was where I turned to talk about it since I’m sure Instagram is tired of seeing pictures of my buddies and Twitter is tired of hearing how much I miss Tanzania.
